My two daughters are my ‘go-to’ people for keeping me steered in the right direction.
I spent twenty years guiding them toward maturity so now they have accepted the responsibility of guiding me toward old age.
I don’t always like their suggestions. Does one take Tylenol or Advil? One pill or two? Have you drunk enough water today?
After checking out my cupboards they’ll gently remind me I will soon need cooking oil and crackers.
“Are you continuing your exercises?” they will question?
This weekend they visited and they discovered a couple bottles of magnesium supplement pills in the bathroom so I’m on my third day of taking them.
As they were preparing to leave, they suggested that I make an appointment to have a message therapist work on my painful hip and thigh.
Seeing the doubtful look in my eyes one of them got on her iPhone and ordered an appointment on the spot!
So, as the sun rose this morning I awakened to a new adventure, experiencing my first message.
My initial concern was to find underwear that would be presentable for such an event. I had to look long and hard, but that goal was eventually accomplished.
Since insurance does not cover such events, I had to recover from the sticker shock my check book was about to suffer. Although less pain would certainly be worth it.
I arrived at the chiropractic office right on time.
The Message lady and I exchanged “good mornings” and proceeded into the tiny examining room.
She stepped out as I went into the underwear mode.
Returning, she had me climb onto the table and stick my face into the ‘face rest’ at the table’s end, something I had never experienced before.
Hopefully, the ‘face rest’ was cleaned between each chiropractic session as I had my face buried in it. 🙂
Now, I am a verbal person so I could have easily blabbed away as she worked on me, but I wasn’t sure if talking was allowed. I didn’t want to interrupt her healing powers.
So, we spent a silent ninety minutes as Therapist Kaitlyn worked over my painful hip.
The mood was set as calming music played in the background. I suppose it was special message music but a Johnny Cash or Peter, Paul and Mary tune would have spiced things up a bit. 🙂
The session was very relaxing, so relaxing I might have even had a short nap during the process.
My hip has been painful for weeks, so I was fearful the treatment would also be very painful. But I was happily surprised as I was comfortable throughout the whole process. 🙂
Therapist Kaitlyn discussed the final analysis of her treatment and the conditions of the muscles. I perked up when she said for the rest of the day to drink. But alas she was referring to water only.
So, all in all it was a great experience, and I look forward to doing it again. However, I’ll need to check on that talking rule before another session gets scheduled. 🙂
Another thing, as I’m finishing up this blog, I notice I have two emails, one from each of my daughters inquiring if they should set up another chiropractic session for me.
Old age and family, I like it. 🙂
Until next time.
