I celebrated my 81st Christmas several weeks ago.
The first couple of those celebrations have faded from my memory but I’m sure I had a good time as my aunts talked gibberish to me and lovingly pinched my fat cheeks. While also commenting on which side of the family I most resembled.
Of course, I responded by spitting out my pacifier and giving them a big, sloppy grin.
Come to think about it I’m not sure pacifiers had been invented in 1944. If that was the case, I would have responded differently. I probably would have removed the thumb I had been sucking on and given them a big, sloppy grin. 🙂
Our families have a tradition that still continues to this day. It deals with a certain gift that is often exchanged between the gift givers.
How sweet it is!
You will know that Christmas is approaching when you observe that this item is on sale in the stores.
There are a variety of brands such as Cella’s, Queen Anne and Cordial and they all belong to the “Chocolate Covered Cherry” food group.
Every Christmas gift opening session in our family guarantees that at least one gift containing chocolate covered cherries will be revealed.
As a child I discovered I loved chocolate covered cherries but being part of a family of six the twelve chocolate covered cherries in each box didn’t go very far. So, I spent my growing up years deprived of an adequate diet of chocolate covered cherries.
Then Christmas, 2025 arrived! 🙂
Our family was together opening our gifts.
I removed the Amazon gift wrap from my present and reached into the box and to my surprise pulled out a box of Cella’s chocolate covered cherries!
The box was not empty yet so again, I reached in and pulled out a box of Queen Anne chocolate covered cherries!
You think that would empty the box, but you would be wrong.
Reaching in again, I came up with a cellophane bag, filled with Cordial chocolate covered cherries!
Peering into the box I saw one remaining gift, another cellophane bag filled with Cordial chocolate covered cherries!
When it rains it pours!! 🙂
Cordial chocolate covered cherries were new to me. Thanks to Google I was enlightened. To make a chocolate covered Cordial, cherries are soaked in brandy and aged two months before being double dipped in milk or bittersweet chocolate.
Aren’t you glad I spilled the beans about that brandy in the Cordial chocolate covered cherries? If you had gone on a Cordial eating binge you might have awakened with a terrible headache! 🙂
2025 is in our rear-view mirror.
