It’s 3:30 in the morning and I sit at my computer wide awake.
Why am I up at this ungodly hour attempting to write a blog?
You see, I have a pain in my left leg, and it has been bothering me for a long time, over a year!
I have been kicked out of therapy (graduated) several times now earning a cool t-shirt each time. But in a few days the pain reappears.
Our fine medical folks have determined that the reoccurring pain may actually be caused by a nerve inflammation in my leg. Thus, I have been taking two Tylenol when needed for the pain.
Well, a couple days ago I ran out of Tylenol, so I hustled to the drug store to get re-supplied. Checking through the maze of medicine bottles I spotted a plastic jar that looked very familiar to my empty container and, sure enough, I viewed the word Tylenol on the label.
Grabbing the bottle, I headed to the register to make the purchase.
Opening the new Tylenol bottle, I noticed the pills were not the same color as those I had taken from the depleted container!?
Because of the pill size difference, I decided not to take two pills as I normally did but took just one instead.
It was approaching 11:oo pm so I headed to bed.
Soon, it was midnight and I was not one bit tired?
1:oo am rolled around and I hadn’t even yawned yet?
As 3:oo am was approaching I decided I better go downstairs and reread that Tylenol bottle label.
My eyes bugged I’m sure, as I more closely scrutinized the label to discover I had just swallowed one Tylenol PM pill!
That explains a lot!
So, in my fear of pill complications I scrambled for the phone book and called the Wheaton Hospital to check and see if the ambulance should be notified. 🙁
At 3:oo am would there be anyone awake to answer the phone?
All I know is that I was still awake, really awake. 🙂
But that’s crazy the Tylenol PM pill should be making me sleepy instead I was super awake?
On the second ring a cheerful voice said, “Wheaton Hospital”.
The nurse and I had a serious consultation, and I was quickly assured there would be no need for an ambulance ride, and my unusual alertness probably was the result of too much Tylenol in my system.
In other words, my body became ‘wired’ instead of the usual sleepy feelings.
Whew, what a relief!
The nurse was very thoughtful as we ended our conversation by not cheerfully saying, “Have a good night.”
It would have been a little too late for that.
But I have three to four more hours of the Tylenol PM particles floating around in my blood stream!
I finished reading my book. The dishes are done. I have nothing to do!
It’s now 5:00 am and I’m suffering no fatigued feelings yet.
If you happen to be a night owl scrolling through your Facebook and you come across my blog situation, give me a phone call.
I’ve got a couple hours to kill, so if you need some work done around your house give me a call at 563-4937.
One sure thing, a phone call is not going to be needed to wake me, that dang pill already took care of that. 🙁
Until next time.
